Image removed.New Taipei city government began constructing and integrating the public cloud and service cloud, not only to strengthen city government operations and that of its subordinate agencies, but also to determine public sentiment regarding government services in order to facilitate a more rapid and effective public service for citizens.

School leaders, teachers, and students in the nation's fourth-largest district share their enthusiasm for the digital convergence project that will deploy over 100,000 Windows 8.1 tablet devices for 7th-grade civics and 9th-grade world history classes, and laptops at the elementary level. Some 350,000 students will receive Microsoft Office Professional Plus for free from Council Lead Partner Microsoft as part of the Microsoft Student Advantage program.

Created by the IBM Center for the Business of Government, Using Innovation and Technology to Improve City Services studies emerging trends in the innovative services that smart cities offer and the ways that the cities themselves are adapting to create those services. It presents six key findings in how cities are implementing services and six key actions cities are taking to innovate. The report also uses 12 U.S. cities as case studies, providing examples of especially innovative ways that those cities have adapted.

Fast-growing, future-focused cities like San Jose, California are leading the way in harnessing the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart technologies to help them manage sustainability challenges. San Jose deployed a platform using Council Lead Partner Intel's Gateway Solutions for the IoT with an Intel Quark™ processor and third-party sensors to provide real-time data on air quality, with plans to also measure water quality, noise, traffic, temperature and other quality-of-life metrics.
