SCCANZ In Action: Four events to put in your calendar

Submitted by Adam Beck on May 30, 2017

Convening is one of our core movement building activities here at SCCANZ, and we are passionate about sharing experiences, building capacity, and encouraging peer-to-peer networking. Here are four smart cities events to mark in your calendar for the coming months.

Webinar: 13th June: Embracing the Internet of Things to Accelerate Smart Cities Outcomes
In partnership with the Internet of Things Alliance Australia, SCCANZ will be hosting a webinar through the Commonwealth Government’s Future Ready Program. This webinar will be an exploration into the best practice application of IoT investments in helping to build the backbone to your smart city. This webinar is also available to stakeholders in New Zealand. SCCANZ would also like to acknowledge the webinar’s host, the Australian Smart Communities Association.

Summit: 2nd August: Advancing Smarter Cities – The Planning Imperative, Perth
While technology companies are developing smart cities tools and technologies at an accelerated pace, planning organisations and cities are still challenged to find effective ways of embracing technology and data analytics to address the public interest and respond to the community's aspirations. Join SCCANZ in its collaboration with the Planning Institute of Australia for this informative half-day summit in Perth.

Roadshow: 29th August – 6th September: Public Sector Network/KPMG Building Cities of Tomorrow
SCCANZ Associate Partner KPMG has teamed up with the Public-Sector Network to host a smart city roadshow across six Australian cities – Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth. The series features a range of topics that span future state visioning, cross-sector collaboration, the role of digital transformation in economic prosperity, and smart precinct development, among others.

Conference and Exhibition: 3-5th October: Smart Cities Week, Washington D.C.
Smart Cities Week in Washington D.C. is the Council’s premier event of the year, attracting an international audience over three days to participate in workshops, roundtables, conference sessions, and social networking events.
