The Municipal Commissioner of Pune has put forward a proposal to hand over Rs 40 crore to the Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited (PSCDCL) before the standing committee.

Similarly, the civic administration requested to hand over a sum of Rs 47 crore a couple of months ago, but the figure was pared down to Rs 40 crore later. The elected members chose not to discuss the proposal at the time and postponed it.

Every year the central, state and local bodies give some share to the Pune Smart City Development Corporation Limited to carry out several projects as it is a separate Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) also desired approval in another bid to increase the entrance fees for 13 gardens in the city. The PMC suggested charges of Rs 100 for foreign nationals, Rs 10 for adults and Rs 5 for children. Most of the public gardens are closed during evening hours because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The standing committee will be deciding on both proposals.
