The Nashik Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) bid to appoint a private agency to collect and transport construction and demolition waste failed to receive any response on two occasions. Now, the civic body has invited a fresh Request for Proposal (RfP) from private agencies to collect and recycle construction and demolition waste in the city.

“Earlier, we made two attempts but did not receive response. Now we have floated a RfP for the third time from private agencies for collection, transportation, processing and management of constructions and demolition waste in the city on design, build, operate, transfer (DBOR) basis along with onsite recycling facility,” an NMC official said.

The objective is to overcome the issue of construction and waste in the city. The forms will be made available online from March 26 onwards and the last day for submitting the bid is April 4. Pre-bid meeting of private contractors, who will submit their RfPs, will be held on April 7 and the bids will be opened on May 6.

Disposing debris from demolition and construction sites has become a major issue in the city. Taking the serious cognizance of this, the NMC came up with a solution to appoint a private agency that will collect and transport the construction and demolition waste. The civic administration has no proper management or disposal system for the construction and demolition waste. As per the Government guidelines, NMC is planning to manage and recycle construction and demolition waste through private agency.

The civic will provide a land where to the contractor where construction and demolition waste would be recycled. The construction waste, which is not usable or can’t be recycled, will be sent to the dumping ground as identified by the municipal corporation.

The list of dumping grounds in all six divisions—Nashik East, Nashik West, Nashik Road, Satpur, Cidco and Panchavati—will be given the contractor for carrying out the work.
