A new Digital Twin resource hub for Australia and New Zealand has been launched to help promote the benefits of Digital Twin technology in helping activate data and create value for policy makers, practitioners, researcher’s, and the community.
The Australia New Zealand Digital Twin Hub (www.digitaltwinhub.org) is being hosted by the Smart Cities Council Australia New Zealand (SCCANZ) and is supported by leading innovators and policy makers in the Digital Twin.
SCCANZ Executive Director Adam Beck says “todays launch of the Digital Twin Hub presents an opportunity for the region to build an active community and thriving digital twin marketplace, where strategic policy can be created around social and economic benefit, and the supply-side can partner with government to deliver the best possible services and solutions.”
The Hub provides a range of functions including discussion forum, blog and resource library. The SCC’s Digital Twin TV channel is linked to the Hub, as well as their recently released Digital Twin Guidance Note.
Beck explained that “this new Guidance Note for Digital Twin provides essential definition and structure at a time when there are few standards available.” “In lieu of clear guidance to customers, and vendors, we felt it essential to provide as much clarity as possible on what a Digital Twin is, its benefits, and how to prepare a strategy for their application.”
The Digital Twin Guidance Note was created with input from both private and public sector stakeholders and builds on the outputs from the National Digital Twin Symposium hosted in November last year. It is resource produced through the SCCANZ's Centre for Data Leadership initiaitve that focuses on the advancement of activating data for public good.
It also draws from an important resource released by the Spatial Information Council for Australia and New Zealand (ANZLIC) in late 2019 - the principles for spatially enabled digital twins of the built and natural environment in Australia.
“I want to thank the members of the SCCANZ Digital Twin Task Force, and ANZLIC, who are undertaking the critical work of helping build the foundations for a thriving marketplace for Digital Twins in the region,” Beck said. He continued, saying “The launch of the Digital Twin Hub now provides the Digital Twin community with a place to network, share and continue to educate and build capacity.”
