Cisco Smartnet Maintenance – City of Clovis, CA
Clovis has recently awarded a contract worth $16.4M to technology firm Red River for the provision of Information Technology services including Cisco Smartnet maintenance.
Web Hosting and Management – City of Chicago, IL
Chicago entered into a multi-year contract worth $2.4M with Sebis Direct for web hosting, printing and mail management services for the city’s Water and Sewer Department.
Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvements – City of Hastings, MN
Hastings awarded a $1.7M contract to BCM Construction for improvements to local infrastructure,
including improvements to roadways, traffic control systems, and stormwater management.

Bids and RFPs are the bread and butter of government contracting. These smart city projects are a few examples of the kinds of contracts agencies have recently put out to bid.
Enterprise Resource Planning – City of Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles is considering releasing an RFP for an enterprise resource planning technical presentation and demonstration project on behalf of the city’s Department of Water and Power.
Pension Administration System – City of Phoenix, AZ
Phoenix has put out an RFP for a Pension Administration System (PAS) for the city’s retirement system, including professional services, technology procurement and system implementation.
Fiber Optic Splicing & Testing – City of Santa Monica, CA
Santa Monica released a bid for qualified companies to provide fiber optic cable splicing and testing services for a variety of ongoing fiber optic network projects.
Transit Center Environmental Review – City of Eau Claire, WI
Eau Claire is seeking respondents for an RFP for an environmental review of documents and related services, related to the Chippewa Valley Regional Transit Transfer Center Revitalization Project.
Future Leads in Budgets and Spending Plans
Companies interested in selling smart products or services can get the most foresight by finding potential projects within agency budgets and capital spending plans. Chandler is including $4M in its budget to retrofit street lighting to allow LED lights, reducing energy consumption, and generating savings to fund additional purchases of LED lights.
Metering Upgrades – City of Juneau, AK
Juneau has allocated $500K through 2022 in its Capital Improvement Plan for spending on metering upgrades, radio read, master station, and mobile pack for its Water Utility Division.
