Congratulations to the City of Altamonte Springs, Florida for their recent Partnership Innovation Award from the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust (FMIT).

Last month, Smart Cities Council, in partnership with CAMMS and Vantiq hosted a summit on Building Tomorrow's Sustainable Urban Ecosystem in Orlando. Frank Martz, City Manager, Altamonte Springs kicked off the event with a keynote sharing lessons learned by the City of Altamonte Springs and the many forward-thinking solutions that enhance the quality of life for its residents recognizing the importance of public-private partnerships in creating a working network for urban co-development.

Martz was later joined for a panel discussion with Racquel Asa, Chief Marketing Officer, Beep and Jeremy Dilmore, Transportation Systems Management and Operations Engineer, Florida Transportation Authority.  Collaborating with Beep, the City of Altamonte Springs launched CraneRIDES – a new autonomous vehicle (AV) shuttle project in the Uptown Altamonte area.  The City's first of its kind phased AV pilot explores alternative transit modes and offers solutions for the changing economic and urban landscape.
