Cisco to act as advisor for Nagpur Smart City

The networking major, which has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government as an advisory role for developing smart cities in the state, is set to chalk out net-based solutions plan for the Nagpur city.

According to a Times of India news report, Cisco Systems' (India) managing director Purushottam Kaushik was quoted as saying, “Cisco, as part of the MoU with the government, has taken up an advisory role. Out of 44 solutions it has, the company may prioratize 7-8 solutions, depending on the needs of Nagpur city."

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has appointed Crisil as the consultant for the Smart City project.

Cisco, who is our lead partner, said that the solutions for Nagpur city may be presented to Crisil in the next 2-3 months, and may be included in the detailed project report (DPR).

The report added that Cisco has provided solutions to Jaipur keeping in minds its tourist influx, similarly, Nagpur which is an upcoming educational hub, will require solutions to manage its floating population and settles coming into the city.

They may propose to offer mobile application or net-based signboards to ease transport in the city.
