Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial construction at Indu Mill to be expedited

Minister for Social Justice and Special Assistance, Dhananjay Munde, has urged the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to expedite the construction of the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar memorial at Indu Mill.

A meeting was held in the ministry's hall, according to the media, to review the memorial's work using a television system. Dr Vishwajeet Kadam, Minister of State for Social Justice, MMRDA Commissioner SVR Srinivas, Social Justice and Special Assistance Department Shyam Tagade, and officials from the Social Justice Department were also present.

In addition, Munde said that the project's original duration had been extended due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, the monument's construction should be accelerated and completed within the timeframe set. In addition, MMRDA Commissioner SVR Srinivas stated that the estimated work on the project is 48 % complete.

Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was not only a lawyer or an economist; Ambedkar was also a social reformer who led the Dalit Buddhist movement and campaigned against untouchability. Ambedkar was India's first Minister of Law and Justice after independence, and he is widely regarded as the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. On December 6, 1956, he died peacefully at his home in Delhi.

MMRDA is involved in long-term planning, the promotion of new growth centres, strategic project implementation, the promotion of new growth centres and infrastructure development financing. The Regional Plan establishes a strategic framework for MMR's long-term growth.
