Chitkara University opens sustainable smart city research lab

With assistance from Taiwan's National Chung Cheng University and the National Science and Technology Council Chitkara University has established a sustainable smart city research lab.

In order to build international competency in terms of artificial intelligence techniques and on-site deployment the lab was developed as a component of a four-year project. The project coordinators have decided Chandigarh is the Indian city for which they would deploy at least one application.

Establishing a relationship with the Chandigarh city administration is one of the research lab's key objectives in order to try to implement sustainable smart city applications in the city of Chandigarh such as environment pollution detection and intelligent traffic management.

The 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) an urgent call for action by both rich and developing countries in a global partnership are at the core of the UN's common blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet.
