The Code will identify and highlight the broad scope of a smart community, the core principles, and suggested metrics. It will be developed as a voluntary mechanism, with a view to evolving over time, and potentially transitioning to a more detailed specification should the market demand it.
It will be an adjunct to existing buildings and infrastructure rating systems, and other frameworks that have direct influence over the way we invest in development and infrastructure projects, as well as the social and economic development programs we design and implement. The audience will be diverse - anyone who shapes urban development policy, the planning and design community, investors, developers and constructors, and those who maintain and manage our community (hard and soft) infrastructure assets.
We aspire for it to become a core reference document for government and the private sector when specifying sustainable urban development and infrastructure projects.
