Patna municipal area to have 30 smart parking facilities soon

The Patna civic body’s 30 parking lots will be turned into smart parking facilities post-amendments in the master plan. The proposal had been approved in the Patna Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) 25th board meeting held on Saturday and it is a part of the smart parking management system.

Mayor Sita Sahu said that the company was selected post the bidding process and the work will commence in the upcoming few days. The smart parking lots will mostly be ready by the end of March and become operational in April.

She said the smart parking system driven by technology will comprise parking guidance, information of parking slot availability in real-time via a mobile application, and online payment facilities.

The smart parking facilities will have boom barriers along with radio-frequency identification (RFID) sensors for the control over the entry and exit of vehicles, automated pay stations, smart ticketing system, and closed-circuit television cameras for collecting the vehicle model and number.

Free parking facilities shall be provided to the residents with the ‘Swachhata’ app on their mobiles. The special drive for the encouragement of residents for participating in the Swachh Survekshan 2022 through giving feedback on the app. The survey has 1,800 marks for the voice of citizens.

The proposal for adoption of a Japan-based ‘Miyawaki technique’ used for compressing layers of trees, forest shrubs, and canopies on small land parcels to turn them into tiny forests had further been approved.
