Smart Cities Council is pleased to welcome Andrej Mocicka, Country Manager for 1Spatial Australia, as our newest Professional Member.

With over 45 years of experience in the spatial industry, Andrej brings an unparalleled depth of expertise in surveying, land data management, and geospatial technologies. His career has spanned both the public and private sectors, contributing significantly to the development and advancement of spatial science in Australia and beyond.

Andrej holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Surveying) and a Graduate Diploma in Land Data Management, and has applied this knowledge across a wide range of domains, from major engineering and construction projects to geodetic, cadastral, and topographic surveying.

Currently leading the 1Spatial Australia team as Country Manager, Andrej has been instrumental in driving year-on-year double-digit business growth by building and mentoring a high-performing team of consultants, sales, and marketing professionals. Under his leadership, 1Spatial continues to play a critical role in data governance, spatial enablement, and location intelligence for infrastructure and urban transformation projects across the region.

Throughout his career, Andrej has held influential positions across the industry. He has served as President of the Institution of Surveyors Australia (Victoria Division), chaired national and state-level committees for the Geospatial Council of Australia (GCA), and presented at leading global spatial forums including FIG Working Week, GeoBusiness UK, and Locate Australia.

His deep commitment to professional collaboration and capacity building aligns strongly with the work of Smart Cities Council task forces, which Andrej is set to join to explore key topics such as the integration of geospatial data into smart infrastructure, standards and best practices for location intelligence in digital twins and the role of spatial governance in enabling more resilient and interoperable urban systems.

We’re honoured to have Andrej join the SCC professional community. His extensive experience and passion for the power of spatial data to inform smart decision-making will bring great value to Council initiatives - especially as we continue to expand our work on data-driven governance, infrastructure coordination, and cross-sector collaboration.
