As the global smart cities calendar continues at full speed, the Smart Cities Council (SCC) will play an active role at the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit & Mayors’ Forum (APCS), taking place from 27–29 October 2025 at Expo City Dubai.

Hosted by Dubai Municipality in collaboration with the Brisbane City Council and facilitated by the Milken Institute, the Summit brings together city leaders, mayors, innovators, and global organisations to explore practical solutions for today’s most urgent urban challenges — from climate resilience and digital transformation to economic growth and liveability.

Representing SCC will be Sunil Casuba, the Council’s Advisory – Global Lead, who will be flying the flag in Dubai as part of the prestigious Mayors’ Forum. This exclusive session brings together city government leaders for closed-door discussions focused on four strategic themes:

  • City Leadership and Economic Development
  • Digital Transformation and Urban Futures
  • Quality of Life
  • Environmental Solutions and Urban Regeneration

As one of the City Champions, Sunil will participate in the discussions, hearing first-hand from city leaders about their key challenges, priorities, and objectives in building more liveable, sustainable, and technology-enabled cities. His involvement will help ensure the continued relevance and influence of the SCC City Maturity Assessment Tool, aligning its ongoing development with the real-world needs of cities and communities across the Asia Pacific region.

Through this engagement, SCC continues to strengthen its position as a trusted global knowledge partner, helping cities navigate the intersection of technology, governance, and human-centred innovation.

The Asia Pacific Cities Summit — now in its 15th edition — connects more than 100 cities and 1,000 delegates from across the region. The 2025 edition marks a significant milestone as it convenes in Dubai for the first time, reinforcing the city’s reputation as a global hub for innovation and urban excellence.

In addition to his participation in the Mayors’ Forum, Sunil will also joinShaik Hamdan, an SCC Member, in the high-profile session titled: “From Smart Cities to Liveable Cities – with a Focus on Healthspan”
