Smart Talent AI has today joined the Smart Cities Council as a Startup Member, bringing advanced workforce intelligence and AI-powered solutions to cities across the globe.

Dedicated to helping cities on their journey to becoming smarter and more resilient, Smart Talent AI recruits and deploys expert teams to conduct in-depth assessments - starting with surveys and citizen feedback - to uncover each city’s unique challenges and needs. This process includes comprehensive feasibility studies to identify both technological and workforce capability gaps, followed by connecting cities to tailored, AI-powered solutions from a global network of vendors. This ensures that both city administrators and citizens are heard, delivering actionable insights and strategies for smart city transformation.

Founder Sunil Casuba combines a decade of FBI cybersecurity experience with years in international development, working on projects in technology, education, infrastructure, and climate resilience. His lifelong passion for urban development and public mobility, paired with global recruitment expertise, inspired the creation of Smart Talent AI. “I want to take my passions for smart cities, urban development, and cybersecurity and converge that with my professional role as a recruiter, to help identify talent and solutions for real-world smart city challenges,” Casuba says.

Through AI-powered recruitment tools, the Smart Talent AI team is in a position to identify and recruit experts in critical roles, such as:

  • Smart City Strategy
  • Solution and System Integration
  • AI Ethics and Compliance
  • Infrastructure and Civic Roles in IoT, Mobility and Sustainability.

As a Smart Cities Council member, Smart Talent AI will contribute to initiatives such as Regional Communities, Digital Twin maturity, and Smart and Sustainable Infrastructure, while also participating in Council task forces and knowledge-sharing events.

The company’s focus on responsible and ethical AI, and its commitment to both technical and non-technical talent, positions it as a leader in supporting the next wave of smart city workforce transformation.

“Our work with municipalities exploring smart city needs and projects offers us a unique window into the collaboration and partnerships needed across industry. We look forward to being able to represent and share learnings with the global Smart Cities Council ecosystem in these conversations,” said Casuba.

Looking ahead, Smart Talent AI plans to pilot its city assessment model in diverse markets, including established urban centers and emerging cities across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, helping municipalities benchmark their progress, unlock new skills, and prepare for the demands of the future economy.

With both government and industry are grappling with rapid technological change, shifting job markets, and growing social inequalities, Smart Talent AI’s solutions offer a vital piece of the puzzle: enabling cities to better plan, attract, retain, and upskill talent to meet emerging needs.

Smart Cities Council looks forward to amplifying Smart Talent AI’s impact through collaborative events, use case development, and ongoing task force engagement in the months ahead.
