Smart Cities Council is proud to announce Darren Murphy as our new Chief Integrity Officer.
"We are delighted to welcome Darren as to the SCC global team. His appointment underscores our commitment to ensuring that our growth is anchored in trust, accountability and strong values. Darren’s expertise will strengthen the foundation of everything we do, from global partnerships to local projects, and will help set new standards for ethics and transparency in the smart cities sector," noted Corey Gray, President of Smart Cities Council.
Darren is the CEO and Founder of Core Integrity, an integrity advisory firm that helps organisations protect their people, reputation, and bottom line.
A former Detective in the NSW Police Fraud Squad, Darren cut his teeth managing complex, high-stakes criminal investigations before moving into senior corporate roles in financial services. Today, he leads a multi-disciplinary team that works with major corporates, government agencies, and professional sporting codes to tackle some of the toughest issues facing workplaces: whistleblowing, insider risk, safeguarding, fraud, corruption, and employee misconduct.
His specialisations include:
- Whistleblowing – designing programs and investigating protected disclosures
- Insider Risk – program advice, implementation, and response strategies
- Employee Misconduct – investigations and workplace culture reviews
- Fraud & Corruption – prevention, detection, and investigations
- Investigations Excellence – reviewing and optimising investigation functions
Darren notes: “I am deeply honoured to be appointed as the inaugural Chief Integrity Officer for the Smart Cities Council. In a world that is more globally connected than ever, operating with integrity and ethics is not just important, it is essential. Integrity sits at the very heart of the Council’s global mission, shaping the way we build smarter, more sustainable, and more trusted communities. I am excited to bring my experience in helping people do the right thing and supporting organisations to protect their people, reputation and bottom line, and I look forward to contributing to the Council’s vital work in driving trust, transparency, and ethical leadership across the smart cities movement.”
Darren's first action was to initiate a formal Code of Conduct, available on our website.
