Biniyam Gessesse Joins Smart Cities Council: Advancing Smart Urban Infrastructure
The Smart Cities Council welcomes Biniyam Gessesse, a Senior Project Manager and Infrastructure Specialist with 20 years of experience in IT project management, data center operations, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). His membership adds deep technical expertise to the Council’s global network, supporting its mission to drive sustainable and technology enabled urban development.
Biniyam has led large-scale projects in both government and private sectors, ensuring mission-critical IT and smart city infrastructure operate efficiently. As O&M Manager at Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal), he managed operations for the country’s largest government data center network, maintaining high availability for IT/OT applications, including SCATS, LCS, and Genetec VMS. His leadership in implementing AI-powered monitoring systems has significantly enhanced predictive maintenance and operational reliability.
Certified as a PMP, RCDD, and ITIL F, Biniyam specializes in integrating advanced technologies like SD WAN, IoT, and cloud solutions into urban infrastructure. His experience in smart surveillance, traffic management, and disaster recovery aligns with the Council’s focus on resilience and sustainability. At the Council, he will contribute to projects that use data, AI, and predictive analytics to build safer and more efficient cities.
Biniyam’s background in managing complex projects, optimizing data centers, and leading cross functional teams will be valuable as the Council continues to shape the future of urban transformation.
