Austrade’s Green Economy team, in partnership with its colleagues across Europe, has launched a new initiative designed specifically to help Australian organisations tap into fast-growing sustainability and net zero markets in the UK and EU.
For Smart Cities Council members and partners based in Australia, these free online sessions are a practical way to understand real demand, priority sectors and partnership pathways – without leaving home.
Webinar 1 – The UK's energy transition and net zero commitments
Date: 9 December 2025
Time: 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm AEDT
Format: Free online webinar
This session will unpack the United Kingdom’s progress and pathway towards decarbonisation across the energy, industrial and built-environment sectors, and highlight where new solutions are urgently needed to meet ambitious net zero goals.
For Australian governments, solution providers, innovators and project partners, the UK’s net zero journey creates clear opportunities to position proven Australian capabilities in areas such as clean energy, circular economy, advanced materials, data and digital, smart infrastructure and more.
Webinar 2 – The Netherlands: Europe’s green gateway for exporters
Date: 11 December 2025
Time: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm AEDT
Format: Free online webinar
The Netherlands is one of the most powerful stepping-stones into the EU for Australian exporters. This webinar will explore why it is an ideal launchpad – from its role as a logistics powerhouse and innovation hub, to its highly collaborative business environment and strong trade ties with Australia.
Australian Smart Cities Council members working in advanced technology, smart cities, agtech, mobility, logistics, ports, energy, water, and climate solutions will gain insight into how Dutch ecosystems and partnerships can support market entry and scale into wider European markets.
Austrade is specifically encouraging Australian Smart Cities Council members and partners to take advantage of these opportunities – particularly those looking to:
- explore new export markets for smart, sustainable and green solutions
- understand real demand and policy drivers in the UK and EU
- identify potential partners, projects and clusters aligned with their capabilities
- build internal confidence and insight before committing to in-market visits
