Synopsis

Since the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) was launched in 2018 when Singapore was Chair of ASEAN, much progress has been made in the capacity building of the city representatives from the 26 cities. Cambodia, as Chair of ASEAN this year, hopes to develop an ecosystem of stakeholders to encourage the development of Innovations for smart and sustainable cities across ASEAN.

This Information Session aims to provide insights of the ASEAN Science and Technology Division - an overview of their plans for the ASEAN Economic Community, and plans by Cambodia for the ASCN. We will also share the academia-industry collaboration with the National University of Management (NUM) based in Phnom Penh to train their students with 7 smart city projects. aligned to the ASEAN Smart Cities Framework.

Case studies of Smart City projects from Phnom Penh, Jakarta and Penang will also be shared.

Our ultimate goal is to help cities in ASEAN to develop the Public-Private-People Partnerships with innovations and viable business models to deliver more sustainable outcomes.
