Varanasi uses command control center as covid-19 war room
To keep a tight vigil on the movement of people during the lockdown and tab on home-quarantined people infected with covid-19, Varanasi is using CCTVs and geographic information system (GIS) technology accessed through its integrated command and control centre (ICCC) set up under the smart city mission.

Gaurang Rathi, municipal commissioner, Varanasi Municipal Corporation, said, “While the ICCC is being used for municipal services, traffic management and water supply, among others, with the current prevailing situation of covid-19 and nation-wise lockdown, the center has now been turned as a 'covid-19 war room'.”

“We are using hi-tech CCTV cameras to keep a strict vigil of people movement during the 21-days nation-wise lockdown,” he informed.
