Minister of Urban development, Suresh Bhardwaj, told the media that the projects worth Rs 567 crore were being implemented in Dharamshala under the Smart City Mission to elevate the urban facilities in the town.
The Minister said that 17 development projects of Rs 116 crore are already completed, along with Rs 3 crore zone treatment plant, Rs 20.9 crore rooftop solar power plant and Rs 23 crore street pavement and up-gradation project.
E-Municipality facility has also been created by investing Rs 1.37 crore, parks, a website and a GIS web portal of the smart city. He told the media that an integrated housing project for Rs 19 crore, housing facilities for the shelterless for Rs 57 lakh, DC campus parking for Rs 3.43 crore and a drinking water supply scheme improvement project of Rs crore have also been finished.
Bharadwaj informed that Rs 3.70 crore were spent on the Bhagsunag area development, Rs 4.44 crore on the Pan City roads upgrade, Rs 1.55 crore on LED street lights, Rs 4 crore on City Convention Centre, and Rs 2 crore on the skill development center.
He said that 27 projects worth Rs 65 crore are under construction. Meanwhile, tenders are being invited for 19 new projects worth Rs 50 crore. Bharadwaj directed the officers to speed up the work under the mission and said that Dharamshala holds significance from a tourism point of view.
He told the media that the Smart City Project would play a key role in making the city more attractive for foreign and domestic tourists, and modern civic facilities would be available to the local people. The Urban Minister said that small projects should also be included under Smart City to benefit the town's entire population.
