Rs 300 billion sanctioned to clean Ganga

Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has announced that more than Rs 300 billion has been sanctioned for projects aimed at cleaning the Ganga and its tributaries. Shekhawat stated that the beginning of economic development is our water resource and energy emphasizing the importance of limited water resources. Much infrastructure has been built to clean the Ganga and its tributaries.

Shekhawat also reportedly expressed satisfaction with the 'Namami Gange' program transforming into a 'Jan Andolan' (mass movement) with the support of various organizations and stated that proper discussions on river issues take place in more than 100 districts along the Ganga with corrective actions being taken.
