SAS named among the top big data text analytics vendors
Council Lead Partner SAS is a leader in The Forrester Wave™: Big Data Text Analytics Platforms, Q2 2016. With text analytics implementations doubling over the last three years, this new report places SAS among vendors that “lead the pack.” SAS is one of six in a broad, diverse and complex landscape that includes more than 200 potential players, according to Forrester. The comprehensive Forrester study applied 20 criteria across three categories: current offering, strategy and market presence. Forrester evaluated SAS® Contextual Analysis alongside nine other products, with SAS holding the highest possible score (5.0) for technical architecture; scalability; industry and business domain expertise; partnership ecosystem; installed base; and global presence.

Qualcomm working with Google on connected car technologyCouncil Lead Partner Qualcomm subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., is working with Google on an  initiative to bring the power of Android OS embedded directly into cars. The initiative aims to help car makers create powerful infotainment systems using Android as a common platform, making it easier to add connected services and applications while delivering a safer and more intuitive driving experience. The goal is to accelerate innovation in the car with an approach that offers openness, customization and scale. Concept car functions demonstrated at Google I/O run on the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 820 Automotive processor for connected cars and infotainment.

Schneider Electric partners with Digital Lumens on intelligent building lightingA new partnership with intelligent lighting systems company Digital Lumens will enable Council Lead Partner Schneider Electric's customers to leverage the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) across a variety of building environments via Digital Lumens’ sensor-based connected lighting and next-generation analytics suite. Its open API allows the company’s LightRules software platform to integrate with third-party building management systems and provides access to an array of real-time sensor data and controls — including occupancy, temperature and energy use — from solutions such as Schneider Electric’s SmartStruxure™ offering.

Elster technology featured in new Honeywell data collection systemHoneywell has announced the availability of the newest version of Connexo MultiSense, its multi-vendor, multi-communication technology meter data collection system developed by Council Associate Partner Elster. MultiSense is part of Connexo, a unified utility intelligence solution that helps utilities better manage the escalating volumes, types and complexity of smart grid data they need to meet evolving business, regulatory and customer expectations.

Itron meters selected for Avista rolloutSpokane, WA-based utility Avista will begin installing smart electric and gas meters from Council Lead Partner Itron next year. While all details have yet to be worked out, the utility plans to replace 263,000 existing meters in what is expected to be a six-year rollout of the smart grid technology. Over the past three years, Itron has supplied smart meters for seven utilities in the U.S. China, South America and other locations.
