Black & Veatch wins major natural gas contract
Associate Partner Black & Veatch has won engineering, procurement and construction services contract for a proposed 925 MW natural gas combined cycle power plant in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. The Tenaska Westmoreland generating station will be built, owned, and operated by Tenaska Pennsylvania Partners, an affiliate of independent energy company Tenaska. The plant will be capable of providing electricity for about 925,000 homes.
Enevo snags European Investment Bank loan to expand markets and technology
Associate Partner Enevo has received a $17 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) as part of EIB’s European Union Finance for Innovators program. Enevo will use the additional funding to fuel growth in key North American, European and Asia-Pacific markets by increasing sensor manufacturing capacity to meet growing demand. The funding will also accelerate Enevo’s R&D in big data analytics for the waste industry.
Council Partners rank high in "Clean 200" company ratings
Council Lead Partner Schneider Electric and Associate Partners Siemens and Panasonic earned high marks in the "Clean 200," a listing by corporate social awareness advocates Corporate Knights and As You Sow that recognizes companies for their investments in clean energy . Siemens took second place behind Toyota, and Schneider Electric and Panasonic came in fourth and fifth, respectively.
SunGard Public Sector's computer aided dispatch system passes load test with flying colors
ONESolution Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system for dispatching emergency responders exceeded performance criteria in load testing conducted by Lead Partner Microsoft. This load test included 200 CAD workstations and simulated over 5,000 mobiles. The software is already in use by agencies throughout the U.S., but the company has all new versions of its system tested for efficiency and reliability.
Enel completes 97 MW solar plant in Chile
Enel Green Power Chile, a subsidiary of Associate Partner Enel, has completed construction on a $180 million solar power plant in Chile's Atacama region. Financed by Enel, the plant's output is rated at 260 GWh. The plant is providing power to the central grid Sistema Interconectado Central. The company already has a total of 76 MW of projects in the area.
A new gas metering solution contract for Itron
Lead Partner Itron has secured a contract with Peoples Natural Gas to supply about 460,000 of its OpenWay Riva communications modules through the next five years. Peoples will be able to automate meter reading with the new devices, increase efficiency and system reliability, and allow for smart city applications in the future. The utility serves about 700,000 customers in Western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky.
