Black & Veatch head procurement, construction for Pennsylvania power plant
Council Associate Partner Black & Veatch is responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of a new natural gas-fired power plant being built by energy developer Tenaska in Pennsylvania. The 925 MW facility will bring needed additional power to the Pittsburgh region as well as hundreds of jobs. The plant will provide electricity for roughly 925,000 homes when construction is completed in 2018.

S&C Electric wins energy storage award
Energy Storage North America (ESNA) recognized Council Lead Partner S&C Electric in its Innovation Award series. S&C was named Centralized Storage Winner for its solar + energy storage project in Minster, Ohio. The project was described as innovative partly because it benefits from four unique revenue streams which offset the cost of the improvement and has improved energy reliability for the community.

Ooredoo upgrades data center solutions
Council Lead Partner Ooredoo is upgrading and modernizing its data center solutions with enhancements in the form of several package options for its business customers in Qatar. New services include the Ooredoo Colocation Service which helps customers safeguard servers, applications and data with high levels of security, infrastructure availability, redundancy and disaster recovery options. A new range of managed services and other enhancements also are available.

IBM and Siemens collaborate on population health strategy
Council Lead Partner IBM's Watson Health and Associate Partner Siemens have entered into a global strategic alliance to lend Watson's cognitive computing capabilities to "population health." Population health is the concept of improving the health of all members in a community, and not only those who are receiving medical care. For now, Watson will be bundled with Siemens' health services and equipment but the two companies plan to develop new services later.

Panasonic and Schneider Electric join forces on equipment and building management
Council Lead Partners Panasonic and Schneider Electric have developed an integrated HVAC equipment and building management solution designed to optimize HVAC and increase energy efficiency on commercial buildings. The integration allows building owners and managers to view all of their core building systems including HVAC equipment, lighting, security, power and electrical distribution through a single interface and provides them with insights for how they can reduce energy use.
