Jammu Smart City Mission: Smart Anganwadis to become reality soon

According to the sources, Jammu will complete a makeover as the Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) is converting its conventional buildings into enhanced structures with better amenities. The JSCL is converting 14 buildings into Smart Anganwadi Centers under the Smart City Mission.

An official said that JSCL is converting 14 buildings into Smart Anganwadi Centers under the Smart City Mission of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MoHUA).

Chief Executive Officer of JSCL, Avny Lavasa, visited different Anganwadi centres to review the ongoing project. Many items ranging from furniture to stationary were procured to convert conventional buildings of Anganwadi into better structures.

Additionally, some buildings have been shortlisted for wall paintings. The items procured under the Smart City Mission are chairs and tables for kids and visitors, preschool kits, whiteboards, stationery items, utensils, storage bins, hygiene kits, almirah, racks and wall clocks.

Lavasa said that upgrading the Anganwadi Centres will provide better childhood care and facilities with more children-friendly facilities and mental and physical development of children.

 

She added that 14 Anganwadi Centres under three Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), Jammu, Satwari and Gandhi Nagar, are being developed in the district.

The CEO of JSCL said that it focuses on improving the quality of life by enabling local development and harnessing technologies to create smart outcomes for the residents.

Officials said that many initiatives had been taken under the Smart City Mission to improve the urban experience and tourism, including installing wayfinding signages, establishing WiFi zones, improving drainage and junctions, establishing heritage trails, building multi-level car parking and smart parking.
