The Bengaluru Smart City would set up an Integrated Command and Control Center (ICCC) at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) headquarters to bring 14 different departments administering the Bengaluru city on a single platform.
This system would also be used to raise public grievances. It would work as a decision support system where information from different departments and applications would be collected, collaborated, and evaluated for better city planning, by utilizing Information and communication technology as a backbone.
Its engines would process and synchronize every relevant data to produce insights. The platform would be incorporated with 14 government departments for service delivery and would impact the everyday lives of Bengaluru citizens. It is ready to start in the next 100 days.
The command centre would be monitored every day 24 hours, seven days a week, and would give a variety of additional services like Analytics and Business Intelligence Service.
The ICCC would be executed by 14-line departments, comprising the BBMP, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), Bengaluru Traffic Police, Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM), Bengaluru City Police, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, and others.
The overall development cost of ICCC is Rs 90 crore and it would help officials in decision making that are useful to the city and its residents. The center would be located on the sixth floor of the BBMP Annex-3 Building in NR Square to oversee its activities.
BSCL plans to create modern control rooms in every BBMP's eight zonal offices. The officials told the media that the proposal to build an ICCC for Bengaluru has been in the works for approximately three years.
