The Aurangabad Smart City Development Corporation (ASCDCL) has rolled out the Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping of properties in Aurangabad. Surveyors had been hired for three months through a private firm and incorporated with the mapping drive.
Tax-collection in charge of the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), Aparna Thete, told the media that 4.5-5 lakh properties might be taken down under official record during the GIS mapping drive against the existing 2.8 lakh properties.
She said that the department has carried out a drone survey of properties, and the reports might be out by 26 January. The surveyors hired by ASCDCL will pay a door-to-door visit to get the property details.
The combined results from the surveys and spot visits would be used to prepare a new database of properties. About 70% of the drone survey work is completed.
According to the procedure rolled out by ASCDCL, the surveyors will hand over the forms to the citizens, seeking property details and personal information, including Aadhar card and PAN card details. Then these collected data will be uploaded in a mobile application devised for the GIS mapping of properties.
Thete said that the assessment of properties would help the civic administration to improve the process of property tax collection and also help in providing different basic amenities and infrastructure.
