We are delighted to announce that the SCCANZ team has recently grown!

The Council welcomes Jannat Maqbool as our Director for New Zealand, and Zanthea Chulio as Cities Engagement Associate based in Brisbane. Both Jannat and Zanthea join the Council at a time of growth as it continues to build a community of local government representatives using the Smart Cities Activator platform to design and share projects and knowledge.

Here's an intro to our new team members:

Jannat is an accomplished academic, CPA and former CIO, undertaking a Masters of Digital Business and actively engaged in the NZ technology sector. With a focus on leveraging technology in innovative ways to benefit individuals, organisations and communities, Jannat is currently the Smart Cities Advisor for Hamilton City Council, Principal Advisor for Asia Pacific in IoT, Agritech and Fintech with Ecosystm, and is involved with various other technology initiatives promoting and building digital capacity. Jannat also leads the development and teaching of micro-credentials, in collaboration with industry, in the Centre for Business and Enterprise at Wintec, one of New Zealand’s leading tertiary institutes.

Zanthea has over ten years’ professional experience in the urban and social planning fields and holds a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning from Queensland University of Technology. She commenced her Graduate Diploma of Social Impact at Swinburne University of Technology in 2019. Zanthea has experience in both public and private sectors within the South East Queensland region as well as advanced knowledge of effective community engagement through the completion of the IAP2 Certificate of Engagement in July 2017. Zanthea has a keen interest in social impact assessment, community and stakeholder engagement and human centred city planning. She has started her own social enterprise called Waysafer which aims to educate users on community safety and CCTV camera locations within Australian cities.
