Submitted by Adam Beck on June 15, 2021

Smart Cities Council Australia New Zealand (SCCANZ) has continued to grow its ecosystem of leaders shaping the future of our cities, regions, and communities with the announcement that global infrastructure firm AECOM has become its latest member.

At a time when our cities are being challenged like never before, having the global expertise and experience of AECOM supporting our programs is welcomed”, said Adam Beck, SCCANZ’s Executive Director.

“We are thrilled to join Smart Cities Council Australia New Zealand and are looking forward to supporting its important advocacy work to catalyse action and investment in technology which enables a more sustainable and equitable future for our communities,” says Colette Munro, Chief Digital Officer, AECOM.

“It is our ambition to work collaboratively across public and private sector organisations to support them on their digital transformation journeys. It is now more important than ever to leverage data and digital technologies in order to plan our infrastructure assets, engage our communities and deliver a better world,” Munro continued.

As one of the world’s trusted infrastructure consulting firms, AECOM is immersed in accelerating digital transformation of everything from planning and design to construction and asset management. The firm not only drives outcomes through its design and advisory work, but also its creation of innovative digital products.

"The sustainability and equity values of AECOM align strongly with our program work at the Council," says Beck. “With our Future of Place project, for example, we look forward to AECOM’s deep talent in mobility, placemaking, and urban planning helping shape the policy and professional practice that will be needed as our communities continue to grow and demand more with less.”
