
As many as 335 Smart City projects worth Rs 134.96 billion are in various stages of implementation in Gujarat of which 67 per cent have been completed state-wise data tabled in the Lok Sabha showed.
The maximum number of completed projects is in Surat, a hub of diamond polishing and textiles, while the least number of projects completed are in Gandhinagar.
Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara and Dahod were among the 100 cities selected between January 2016 and June 2018 to be developed as smart cities.
Of the total 335 smart city projects in Gujarat Surat has the maximum projects with 82 projects worth Rs 31.06 billion followed by Rajkot (72 projects worth Rs 32. billion) and Ahmedabad (68 projects worth Rs 32.68 billion). The least number of projects (37) is in Dahod worth Rs 10.04 billion.
A total of 226 smart city projects worth Rs 62.97 crore have been completed. The maximum projects completed are in Surat where 70 projects worth Rs 20.54 billion have been completed followed by Ahmedabad where 57 projects worth Rs 20.56 billion have been completed.
The least number of projects completed are in Gandhinagar where only 11 projects worth Rs 2.37 billion have been finished.
